Many people presume that Family Therapists just work with families, but family therapists work with individuals too. Family (Systemic) therapy is not a question of how many people are seen together, but is instead about, the approach and ideas which inform the therapist’s way of working. Family or Systemic therapy, as it is also known, involves considering the people in the context of their relationships and the environment in which they live and work, and this approach can be used with both individuals and family groups. Individuals may present with stress, anxiety or depression due to difficulties in their relationships, place of work or home life. When I work with individuals, I assist them in building better relationships and in finding solutions to the difficulties in their lives.
